Telephone Game, Violin Edition

I decided that my personal assignment for the day was to go watch violin clickbait because I’m not entirely sure that “internet famous violinist says some crappy wamazon special violins are okay!!!” was actually what he said…

First note: I don’t think it’s an accident that he’s decided to go for a $69 instrument (nice)

Second note: he was unimpressed with the ones under $100, lucked out at $300 with a decent beginner instrument (which is about the price point where you’d expect to find a playable beginner instrument) from Kennedy Violin (which is the only major string retailer with a substantial wamazon storefront), and then the $500 and $700 ones were Not Great. I mean… The $700 one required you to set up your own bridge, like ?????

And he concluded by saying “go to a luthier if you can”

(Ironically, I only ever see that video trotted out in defense of VSOs but never in support of genuine beginner instruments in the $300-$800 range. Weird!)
