Weird gear

I’m trying to find out how much old-school geared/mechanical violin pegs weigh because they’re universally known to be Very Heavy but no one has ever told me Exactly how heavy and I’m desperately curious.

I did come across the most bizarre set of geared pegs I’ve seen yet though:

What an utterly bizarre set up. I love the fat peg box to accommodate the mechanisms.

(Edit: Actually, I think these aren’t called geared pegs, but mechanical friction pegs?? Because of course they don’t have gears like modern mechanical pegs. Still weird.)
