Well, I’m going full steam ahead on the reverse applique doublet for Rabbit. I need to do a mockup for fit because I haven’t used this pattern before, but I am vaguely hopeful.

The pattern is the Burguen doublet/Male-bodied doublet ca 1600-1620 from The Modern Maker (an absolutely delightful resource on historical clothing, I can’t recommend him enough!)
I’ve gone back and forth on the design of Rabbit’s doublet for ages. The in game model looks like it’s leather that’s cut out to show off a fabric lining. I didn’t want to wear a leather garment in Wisconsin summers at the Ren faire, plus I have very little leatherworking skill. And I doubly did not want to wear a fake leather garment. I know that with wool, you can stretch the fabric and turn slashes to the inside to secure the fabric against fraying, but I wasn’t sure if I could achieve that sort of shape, plus tropical weight wool was a biiit out of my price range. So my first doublet was intentionally completely off model. It’s fine, but I got bit by a bug to try out the Modern Maker pattern. I couldn’t think of any other character I would make a doublet for, so… Rabbit is getting a new look.
