I was trawling a museum’s digital collection in the vain hope that they’d still have an instrument described in a book from the 1880s. But first, I ran across this Thomas Howell violin, which is great:

“Help, my instrument is melting”
And then I found the little beauty!

“There is in the South Kensington Museum a great beauty of this date, made in ivory with a wooden belly, the head a carved, female bust, the bow ivory, and the case leather stamped and gilt. Both the instrument and the bow are fifteen inches long.” — Edward Heron-Allen
I love the case, I think Kytte deserves something that fabulous.
