An epic(?) quest into costuming, violin, and fantasy.

*beep boop!*

“If it’s made in a factory, that means robots made it”

Sounds like someone never watched How It’s Made!

(I actually stumbled across episodes of How It’s Made on yubtub recently, and since I’ve been working on the VSO vs Cheap Violin post, it’s fun to look at the points where humans are involved–tasks that are complex enough that it’s easier and cheaper to hire and train a person than to figure out how to get a machine to do it)

I also found some very handy videos from two entry level-ish instrument makers, one that’s very factory style and one that’s more workshop style:

Stentor
Gliga

Also I love the contrast of production values here! One’s very ‘showing off for the investors’ and the other is ‘follow this guy around for a week and we’ll see what we got’ (and I mean that endearingly)
